Lackland AirFest 2008, San Antonio 11-01

Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio hosted a great series of air performances over the Nov 1-2 weekend. Highlights included the F-22 Raptor, a "heritage" flight including the Raptor, F-15 Eagle, F-16 Falcon, and P-40 Warhawk together, and a parachute jump show from the Army's Golden Knights.

  • Prior to the jumps, weighted ribbons were dropped from the plane to judge the amount of wind drift over the jump area. This was used to calculate exactly where to start the jump to land on the target spot on the ground.
